XML Conference & Exhibition 2005

The Conference schema is a subset of DocBook. All proceedings papers must validate against this DocBook subset to be accepted by the proceedings paper submission procedure. The processing that we do to the papers to create the HTML and PDF (and perhaps other versions) depends on the papers all conforming to this schema.

The conference schema is available in three schema languages: DTD, RELAX NG and W3C Schema. Should there be discrepancies between them (which are not expected), the DTD is the normative version. Please let us know of any discrepancies, or any bugs in the files.

There are three zip files which contain relevant files:

The minimal set of files; contains the schemas in the three languages together with schema documentation in both XML and HTML. The XML version uses the conference schema and includes examples of usage.This is all you need to create valid proceedings papers.

The source DocBook files from which the conference schema was generated. You shouldn't need these files; they're here for completeness.

Images for inclusion in the proceedings paper must be in one of the formats JPG, GIF, PNG, SVG, or SVGZ. The rendered size of the images must be smaller than 7" (17.5cm) wide by 9" (23cm) high, or 600 pixels wide by 800 pixels high. The imagedata element allows three ways to size your images; please see the DocBook documentation at imagedata for details. Images that are larger than allowed may be sent back to the author for resizing, automatically scaled down in size, or clipped.

Papers should be at least 2000 words long. Longer papers are welcome; generally at least 2500 words are needed to adequately cover the subject matter. Each presentation will be assigned a number or presentation code. This code must be used when submitting your XML papers. We expect a number of authoring tool vendors to create customized tools and will post these as they become available.
